Deep Waters - The mine lakes along the Cuyuna Lakes State Trail are incredibly deep, with Portsmouth reaching over 450’.

Distance - The Cuyuna Lakes State Trail is fully nine miles long, extending from Riverton to Deerwood, with direct access to Ironton and Crosby, as well as connector access to Cuyuna.

Lakeside - The Cuyuna Lakes State Trail features numerous views of Minnesota’s Cuyuna Lakes. Natural lakes include Carlson Lake, Black Hoof Lake and Serpent Lake. Crystal-clear mine lakes include Mallen, Huntington, Pennington, Armour #2, and Portsmouth.

Legislative Approval - The Cuyuna Lakes State Trail was legislatively authorized by the State of Minnesota (Minnesota Statutes 85.015, Subdivision 24).

Mississippi River Trail (MRT) - The renowned Mississippi River Trail flows through segments of the Cuyuna Lakes State Trail. The Mississippi River Trail is a 3,000 mile trail network following the Mississippi River from Itasca, Minnesota to the Gulf of Mexico.

Recreation Area - The Cuyuna Lakes State Trail passes through the heart of the Cuyuna Country State Recreation Area. As one of Minnesota’s newest recreation areas, its 5,000 acres are still largely undeveloped. While numerous natural and mine lakes dot the area, the Recreation Area is most known for it’s world-class mountain bike trails.

Smooth Ride - Like other Minnesota State Trails, the Cuyuna Lakes State Trail features a 10’ asphalt trailway and gentle contours for a smooth and accessible ride.
